Deliciously spiced Vegan Masala Chai that’s ready under 10 minutes.


Vegan Masala Chai

This is a 7-ingredients & 7-minutes recipe. I like using whole spices – particularly because they have a longer shelf life and are more fragrant when freshly ground.

You can use a spice grinder, or a mortar & pestle to grind them.

Vegan Masala Chai

Some plant-based milk (particularly soy milk) tend to split and turn lumpy when mixed with boiling tea. 

To avoid the splitting, I suggest you turn off the heat, let the tea cool for about a minute or two, and then add your plant-based milk. 

The difference in temperatures between refrigerated plant-based milk and the boiling tea causes the milk to split.

Vegan Masala Chai

This is obviously a personal preference, but I think the masala chai tastes best w/almond or cashew milk.

  1. Using a spice grinder or mortar-pestle, crush & grind the whole spices (cinnamon stick + cloves + cardamoms). Add the ginger piece and crush/grind it.

  2. Heat water. Once hot, add the spice mixture + tea leaves + sugar and bring it to a boil.

  3. Turn off the heat and let it cool for about 1-2 minutes. Using a strainer, pour the tea into a serving cup(s).

  4. Add almond milk and give it a gentle stir.
