Cinnamon Apple Oat Porridge

Hearty, healthy, and delicious steel cut oat porridge that’s pressure-cooked and is ready in less than 10 minutes.

I tried making a similar version of this porridge in a saucepan, but the constant stirring, scraping and adding more liquid didn’t make the cooking any pleasant.

Pressure cooker (in my case, Instant Pot) took care of all these ‘problems’. It’s now a set-and-forget experience and the meal is ready in no time.

I used coconut milk in this recipe but feel free to use your fav non-dairy milk.

I also added some chopped cashews and raisins to make the porridge more enjoyable.

The instruction is pretty straight-forward – mix all the ingredients together, seal the lid, secure the valve, and cook.

I usually let the pressure release naturally, but if you’re in a hurry, you can always do a quick release.

  1. Add all the ingredients to your pressure cooker. Give it a stir. Secure the lid and seal the valve.

  2. For electric pressure cooker, press MANUAL (or PRESSURE COOK) and set the timer to 4 MINUTES on HIGH PRESSURE.

  3. For stovetop pressure cooker, turn the heat up to high and when the cooker indicates it has reached high pressure, lower the heat to maintain it and begin counting 3 minutes pressure cooking time.

  4. Allow the pressure to release naturally (10-15 minutes). You can do a quick release too, if you wish.
